Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bites

Hangry: state of mind (hungry + angry) that occurs sometimes after work but before dinner. If a bag of baked cheddar n’ sour cream potato chips are around, they are instantly an endangered species.

For this, and because I have been meaning to make them for a while, I made some protein bites! I only need a one or two to keep me from eating a whole bag of potato chips.

Yields: 15-20 small round balls

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup whole flax seeds
  • 1/4 cup chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate fudge protein powder (can add 1 or 2 more tablespoons, it doesn’t seem to overpower the flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon agave nectar (can substitute with honey)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

If you want to double the recipe, go head and double everything except for the vanilla extract. Keep this at 1/2 teaspoon. I even switched it up once and used almond extract for a separate batch. Very good!

  1. In a large bowl, mix all the items together
  2. Set in fridge for 30-60 minutes
  3. Take bowl out of fridge and make 1 inch round balls
  4. Place in tupperware and set in fridge to keep cold
  5. Eat at your leisure!

I live an exciting, adventurous life with my husband Ben (he can take credit for the adventurous part). We live in little ol' Columbus and we just love this city! I'm an organizer with OCD (self-diagnosed). My husband turned me into a crazy water ski competitor and taught me how to jump off a 5 foot ramp going 32mph to see how far I can go, and sometimes I don't land the way I should (The whole ski community is a little coo coo, but I love them). I love pizza, and when I proclaim my love for pizza all my friends go "We know". My favorite thing is when my family and friends gather for a meal, and there is banter and wine. I love art and looking at beautiful things and I believe every item of decor in a home should have a meaning and a story behind it. I love food and exercising, but just like any other person there are days I really don't feel like going to the gym or I just rather throw in a pizza in the oven for dinner (and sometimes I do). This blog is a reflection of my love for being happy and my journey on eating right and exercising to achieve a higher level of happiness.
